The conference which has its theme as "The Role Of Surgery In Achieving The Sustainable Development Goals, is a four day event aimed at reducing maternal deaths in Nigeria, birth defects and under-5 mortality in the country.
The event which is ongoing in Awka, the capital city of Anambra state, attracts participants from around the country.
